Crimps are used to easily create loops on thicker, stiffer materials such as monofilament or fluorocarbon, they can also be used on coated leaders. Use a crimp of such a diameter that the rigging material can easily be pulled through it. Pull it through one part of the crimp and the other side back, so that a loop of the desired size is formed. Then take the crimping pliers, place it in the appropriate groove and snap the crimp. Check the strength of the joint and cut off the excess material with the cutting part of the pliers. Crimps 0.6 mm are suitable for use with material up to a maximum thickness of 0.55 mm.
