Crimping pliers are used to easily create loops on thicker, stiffer materials such as monofilament or fluorocarbon. Pull the material through one part of the crimp and back through the other side so that a loop of the desired size is formed. Then take the pliers, place them in the appropriate groove and snap the crimp. Check the strength of the joint and cut off the excess material with the cutting part of the pliers.
